Hi, i am using feature layers in my web map but want to be able to group them into sublayers, as you get when defining a group of layers in the msd. i have set up the group in the msd published, but cannot seem to replicate the structure using feature layers as opposed to a dynamic service.

my rest directory currently shows:

Group Name (0)
layer 1 (1)
layer 2 (2)

how do i create this structure in the <operationallayers> section of the config.xml?!

i'm sure it's easy (i hope so!) but have searched high and low and can't find any reference on the forums anywhere...

thanks!
Ben

Ben,

So why are you using feature layer type at all? If you want to maintain the symbology and grouping why not just add the mapservice instead?

Hi Robert, i am using a mapservice for the bulk of my data, however some layers i want to use as feature layers. i was wondering if i can include these in the groupings that form my mapservice, in which data is grouped according to source.

i remember seeing some simple code somewhere to apply a grouping to some layers listed in the operational layers, but can't find it. is this possible?!

thanks
Ben

Ben,

I don't know of a way to do this and don't remember seeing a thread about that.
