Create Metadata Widget for FlexViewer 2.2

Hi all,

I need to create a metadata widget for the Flex Viewer 2.2 . This widget is supposed to show the medata of layers as well as being able to search through the metadata records and display the results. Is there any sample code or a way that can help me to start creating the widget. Any help is appreciated.

   REST does not expose the actual meta data just some very basic info, so there is no good starting point for you to build a widget from. People in the past SFV 1.3 have exported their Metadata for each of their layers and added them to a virtual directory and then linked to that data or just built .Net web services to access SOAP and get the metadata. But questions about .Net and web services is not the scope of this forum.
