could not connect to portal

When I install and use the new 3.0 Flex Application Builder I get this error on application load 'could not connect to portal'. Everything seems to work fine so not sure what its trying to access and why this message pops up. Anyone else discovered this?

Did you ever get this issue resolved as I am having the same error whilst trying to build a new flex viewer.

I ran into this problem before, might not be your issue, but here's how I fixed it. 

The "websense" software my company used for blocking sites (gambling, etc.) also blocked the connection to the portal and to the ESRI basemaps accessed via ArcCatalog.  I had IT add http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services and  http://www.arcgis.com to the sites allowed through the monitoring software.

If I remember correctly, http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services is used via ArcCatalog - GIS Servers - Add ArcGIS Server to connect to the ESRI basemaps.  http://www.arcgis.com was how the 3.0 Flex Application Builder accessed the portal.
