I don't know if post this question here is appropriate. Sometimes I get confused about my career path as a GIS developer. Do you guys think that being a GIS developer will be a promising job (I am always worried that ESRI will make things too easy that no complex programming is needed any more)? Compare with regular programmer, do we earn much less than them? I have 5 years coding experience and work in a large consulting company in a mid-size city, my company pays me around $74,000. Am I underpaid? What's the average salary for a senior GIS developer.

Thanks,

Sam

I don't think this is the right forum the discuss salary and career questions. If I were you, I'd go to a site like glassdoor.com to get that kind of information (very good site, btw).
