I don't know if post this question here is appropriate. Sometimes I get confused about my career path as a GIS developer. Do you guys think that being a GIS developer will be a promising job (I am always worried that ESRI will make things too easy that no complex programming is needed any more)? Compare with regular programmer, do we earn much less than them? I have 5 years coding experience and work in a large consulting company in a mid-size city, my company pays me around $74,000. Am I underpaid? What's the average salary for a senior GIS developer.
