I am currently working on trail map project and would like to know if it is possible to change the units from feet to miles as it is displayed on the interpolation graph. I would like the profile graphs of the trails to have an x axis in miles and a y axis in feet, also is there any way to set the breaks like a scale bar? I have spent hours and hours on this and would appreciate any help.
thanks

Hi....I am going through a similar dilemma.  I finally changed my data frame's projection using units that I want my ultimate profile graph's units to be in.  Worked ok.  Now I am trying to fiddle with the numbers.  My map units are now in meters, all ok, but to get them to display in km is the trick here (for the x-axis)  I cannot seem to find a way to divide each labeled value on the axis by 1000.
My Y-axis is ok since it displays elev and depth in meters (as desired) but that is a function of the image's pixel values)

So, to get back to your issue :-):  Best (and only way  I believe) is to change the data frame's projection to reflect uits you want the X axis to be in.

Thanks for your reply, i have a feeling i will have to tinker with the graphs in layout inorder to get them into miles. I will cover up the values of the x axis and then add a grid to measure out the miles to the best of my abilities and add mile marker text and group it all together. lucky your working in m and km, 5280ft wont be as easy to precisely measure as 1000m.
My other issue is that my employers would like the graphs to have the same scale, because i am creating a series of trail loops in the park they would like the y axis to be set to 1600 ft. Currently i am unable to set the values of the Y axis, so one can see that the difference between the easier hikes and summit trips. However i think excel might be the answer if i was proficient with it ; )

Please change your map units within the data frame properties. First, go into the Data Frame Properties > Coordinate system > Modify. Under Linear unit, select your desired unit (feet or miles etc).

Next, go into the General Tab and change the units again to your desired unit (feet or miles etc). Then create your profile graph.

Hope this helps.
