symbolizing point data in ArcScene with 3D symbols

Am a bit new to using ArcScene but wondered if anyone had been having trouble symbolizing point data. Using Arc 9.3.1, I've been able to symbolize regular points using .dae's exported from Google Sketchup 8 using the Symbology>Properties>3DMarkerSymbol and importing that way.

But when my roommate and I tried to symbolize points in ArcScene 10 that were specifically "PointZM" with .dae's the same way, the symbol showed up in the properties dialog, but once we hit "Apply", all of the points in the scene just disappeared.

We tried several times to symbolize them, using different .dae's, changing size and orientation, and also trying to symbolize them with other 3D simple symbols such as triangles. The only symbol that would even work was just the generic point dot.

Any suggestions?

I have the same problem.  Did you ever get an answer?
Thanks

If the dae will not display, it may be too complex for the combination of you video card and ArcScene/ArcGlobe to handle.  I would recommend opening the dae in Sketchup and then saving it back out as a skp and specify a version of 6.  This is the recommended Sketchup Version that ArcScene will support.  If the model does not work as well, then there may be other issue.  If you are using 10, I would recommend trying to see if you can create a multipatch feature class and then add it through the 3d Editor.  If the model simply will not ever display then it may be worth placing a Support incident in order to test it out here and see if we can determine what maybe happening or create a bug report for the behavior.
