Problem with importing collada back into ArcScene

Hi everyone,

When I make a modification to a building (something more than just changing the surface color), it makes a spatial adjustment in ArcScene.  I have test this with both making an addition and also just leaving the building as is and just changing the color.

Based on what I have researched, the building modification is changing the center of mass of the building and adjusting it spatially.  How do I fix this so it doesn't do this and fits on the original footprint.

Thanks,
Patty

I have been playing with this a little more today.  Any horizontal adjustment (not vertical) causes the spatial adjustments once brought back into ArcScene 10 from SketchUp 8 (not pro).  The only thing I can think of at this point is to fix the polygon once back in ArcScene.  I wish it would just maintain the spatial horizontal position and fit nicely on the original footprint.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Patty,

The XY center of mass of the SKP file is used to position the model when it comes back in, so if you edit in SketchUp add (for example) a garage, or a new wing, or something that changes the 2D footprint of the building, then it will move on re-import.  There??s not much we can do about it -> we??d need to compare the footprint of the old feature geometry and compare it against the new feature geometry and try and ??recognize? which point/s haven??t changed and then lock the re-import to that location.
