i am creating a 3d campus, and included are building layouts with interior networks for room to room routing, how do I go about creating a polyline that connects each floor so they can all participate in a network?

You can create the stairs by using a 3D Polyline.  You can create the polyline in ArcScene or even just define the Z value for each vertex within the sketch properties.  Be sure to first check the option to include Z values when creating the feature class.  Here are some great resources:

thanks for the reply, so i was able to build stairs, first editing them in arcmap then adding the shapefile to arcscene and editing the z values to give the stairs elevation. My next problem is that I cant figure out how to connect the stairs to the existing hallway centerlines to help in creating a proper network.

I would think that you could snap the polylines to each other.  You could also create a polyline of just connections.  Just make sure you set up the participation correctly in the netowork.

I would think that too, but when I go to create that "connection" the line appears somewhere else on the map..
