10.1 Pre-release: Create LAS Dataset tool - unable to work with 3D Analyst

Hello forum...

At 10.1 Beta 1, using some Lidar data, we were able to create an LAS dataset using the "Create LAS Dataset" tool, then changed the symbolize points to "Elevation" and the symbolize TIN as "Elevation" to enable the 3D Analyst toolbar - to work with the Create Contour tool, for example.

Now at 10.1 Pre-release, I attempt to do the same thing, but the 3D Analyst toolbar does not enable.

I did notice that the "Create LAS Dataset" tool has moved from the 3D Analyst toolbox to the Data Management toolbar.  Did that move have an impact on what becomes available?  Is there another alternative to be able to use the 3D Analyst tools?

Thanks in advance for any help...  Cheers...  Mark

Zoom into 100 % and be sure to have selected the triangulated display and then it should work.

Per Help,

The 3D Analyst toolbar tools are not always enabled when a LAS dataset is active. This is because the LAS dataset can be displayed as a point set. Analysis on thinned points is turned off, and the tools will only be enabled when the LAS dataset is displayed as a full resolution triangulated surface. To learn more about how to obtain a full resolution triangulated surface see: LAS dataset scalability.

Here is the link for the help documentation and quote.
However, the tools are not always active when working with LAS datasets and the 3D Analyst toolbar tools. The 3D Analyst toolbar tools are only available when a LAS dataset is displayed as a full resolution triangulated surface. A full resolution surface is indicated in the table of contents when 100% of points are being used to construct the triangulated surface. When the LAS dataset is displayed as a point set the tools will be disabled. To learn more about how to obtain a full resolution triangulated surface see: LAS dataset scalability.
