I've added a 'GeoPoint' to my survey, and the associated (default) map is visible both in the preview and if I 'open in browser,' but is not displayed when I open the survey in the field app (have tried opening it via both Android and IOS). Can anyone tell me how to get my map to show up in the app? Thanks!
Hi Gavin,
Could you check your mobile device location service to see if it's on? And also check the location status when you open field app to see if you have any data showing in the location status(the satalite icon)?
Did this issue only happen with one survey or all surveys?
Hello Shwu-Jing,
Thanks for your response. Everything was okay with my mobile device location services/status, and the issue was only happening with one survey. Yesterday I had tried removing then re-adding the geopoint but the map still wouldn't load when opened in the app (the coordinates WERE displaying BTW, so i'm sure it was tracking my location), but today I did the same remove/add process again, but also gave the geopoint a different title and placed it in a different location within the survey... and the map finally started loading! I still can't think of any good reason why this would have resolved the issue, but I'm just going to move on for now.
Thanks again,
Gavin
Nevermind, the map still isn't loading.
We're having exactly the same issue. Everything was working just fine and Ut only seems to happen to newly created or edited surveys. Our existing surveys still work fine. Something to do with the latest upgrade?
Richard
I am having same issue. New surveys do not show map in iOS or Android, only coordinates. Old surveys are still showing map.
A quick testing here with 3.7 production using a simple xls form with geopoint question and the map loaded just fine. Would you mind sharing your xls form with us to narrow down the issue here?
Did you publish the survey to survey123 website or your enterprise portal site?
You could send the form to my email sjeng@esri.com if you prefer not to share it here.
What version of Survey123 field app and connect do you use with the map issue? Did you set the default value to the geopoint question? any other setting such as calculation or required with this geopoint question?
Survey123 field app version is 3.7.57. We did not use survey123 connect. Everything else was default value.
Hi Richard,
When you mentioned that newly created or edited surveys were having issue, did you mean that you use survey123 Connect to make edits to the survey or publish new surveys? OR everything was made on the website/Design?
Everything was made on the website/Design. I created a test survey this morning with only a geopoint and it has the same issue.
Mine is using the web designer as well, not connect.
Mine was made with version 3.8 of the web designer.
Thanks for reporting it, I can see the same behavior just by creating a new survey on website and view it on field app. Dev is looking into this now, will keep you all posted.
As a workaround, please try to set the Map type to "Standard(beta)" in field app, the map will load just fine.
Settings>Map>Standard(beta)
Thank you, that worked!

Work around works ok, but I hope it's fixed soon.
Yes, the issue is planned to be addressed in the next release.
Hi All,
This issue has been fixed in 3.8 hotfix1 which is available on the Survey123 website now.
For surveys published from now on in the web designer, the geopoint question can work in Survey123 field app as previously. For surveys published after 1/21 (3.8 release) and before today (2/11, 3.8 hotfix1), they need to be republished again in the web designer if you want to use the map of geopoint question in the field app.
Thanks again for all your feedback!
Thanks,
Zhifang
Does this apply to Survey123 Connect as well? I am running 3.7.62 and I am not able to see the basemap icon in the form preview- I can see only the target icon for capturing the current location. If I navigate to Settings->Map tab, there is only a blank map grid, and the Basemap selector dialogue is not populated with any of the standard basemaps.
Hi Dave,
Yes, the fix also applied to Connect. You will need to republish the survey from Web app(make sure the version under Settings is set to "Always use the latest version" before republish.
After republish, you will need to re-download the survey in Connect again to see the fix.
Please let me know if you are still having the issue with the survey.
Hi,
So I have the same issue except that my GeoPoint does not load in a web browser (tried Android and Windows) but it works when I open it in the Survey 123 App on my Android. I've created the survey using the Web App.
Thanks for any feedback,
Maria
Hi Maria,
Did you follow what Zhifang commented earlier in the post? Please also check the versions of the web app from Survey123 website>Settings>Versions>choose "Always use the latest version(3.8).
