ArcGIS Monitor’s ArcGIS Server Inventory Observer failure after upgrade to 2026 from 2025.1.1

After upgrading ArcGIS Monitor (Server and Agents) to v2026 from v2025.1.1 - we are no longer getting any metrics from the registered components.

The error in the ArcGIS Monitor log says - 'Failed to determine ArcGIS Server license expiration.'

This seems to have been an issue in v2025 that was fixed in v2025.1.1 -https://support.esri.com/en-us/patches-updates/2025/arcgis-monitor-2025-1-release-notes

However it appears that the issue has returned in v2026. Is anyone else getting this?

I recently upgraded our ArcGIS Monitor 2025.1 to 2026 and encountered the exact same issue regarding perpetual licensing.

There is a bug created for this issue:

BUG-000185211 - The ArcGIS Server inventory observer fails with a perpetual license in ArcGIS Monitor 2026.0

The recommendation has been to roll back to 2025.1 via a backup or VM snapshot.

Very disappointed with ESRI: carrying this problem forward after having fixed it in the previous patch release for v2025.1.1
This is the second time in a few weeks that I am having to roll back ESRI code - In April I had to roll back from a Portal for ArcGIS Security Patch after it rendered Web Tier Authentication unusable.

Yes, we've confirmed that there was a regression in the ArcGIS Monitor 2026.0 release with BUG-000185211. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working on releasing a patch to address this.

I will post an update when I have news to share.

We are also planning to upgrade our ArcGIS Monitor environment to version 2026. Does ArcGIS Monitor 2026.0 is compatible with ArcGIS Server 10.8.1?

It is possible to register an ArcGIS Server 10.8.1 site with ArcGIS Monitor 2026.0, but it is NOT a supported version. So if there are any issues, Esri Tech Support will not help to address them. FYI, ArcGIS Monitor 2026.0 has not been certified to work with ArcGIS Server 10.8.1.

Also be aware that ArcGIS Server 10.8.1 will move to retired status in August 2026. I suggest you upgrade your Server site.

Hi, I can see that the patch is available in MyESRI as ArcGIS Monitor Agent (Windows) 2026.0.1
Can you clarify the upgrade process please.
Should the both the ArcGIS Monitor Server service AND the ArcGIS Monitor Agent service be stopped before upgrading or just the ArcGIS Monitor Agent service ?

Hello, all I had to was stop the monitor agent and install the new version. The agent automatically started after the install. All the services were available in monitor.

It was released today, I have downloaded, installed and verified the bug is resolved. Note that it is just a patch to the Agent, not the Server.
