Customised thank you screen appearing in the wrong place

Hello there,

I've been using Survey 123 Connect for a relatively short while, and wanted to customise the thank you screen.

I've used the 'generated_note_prompt_submitted' note (see screen shot below), but the thank you text appears at the foot of the actual survey screen, rather than once the survey has been submitted.

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Hi Helen,

The thank you screen needs to be adjusted in the survey 123 website. I would delete the row from your survey123 connect excel sheet, adjust in survey123.arcgis.com and republish.

Hi @SarahHartholt , good suggestion and I tried doing that, but once it has been published from Survey123 Connect, it won't let me go back and republish it from the survey123.arcgis.com website.

@HelenCooper did you ever figure this out? What I don't understand is why the message in the Web Designer says, "If thank you screen content is specified in Survey123 Connect, the content below will be ignored". This means that there is a way to configure the screen from Survey123 Connect but I have searched on many different occasions and still can't find help or instructions to accomplish it. @Anonymous User would you be able to help with this issue?

Hi @KaraUtter, no I didn't. As you've said, I couldn't find a way to edit it from within Survey123 Connect.

I'm using Survey123 Connect 2.9.120. I haven't had to customize the thank you screen for a survey in 6+ months but editing in the web designer has worked for me in the past.

Thanks @SarahHartholt , are you able to edit it in the designer once you’ve published using S123 Connect? This is the step we’ve not been able to do (and we’ve failed to find a way of editing it in S123 Connect directly).

Yes I understand your issue. I published my survey using Survey123 Connect. Then I changed my thank you screen in the web designer, hit the publish button and submitted a survey that displayed my new thank you screen.

@SarahHartholt that is the exact method we have used and it does not work. The sample you show above looks like a very simple sample, perhaps not a survey123 connect that you have worked on and published over and over again as you are modifying?

As noted in the screenshot here - if thank you screen content is specified in Survey123 Connect the content in the designer will be ignored. But I still can't find out how to correctly specify the thank you screen in Survey123 Connect.

@HelenCooper me neither, I have searched and searched through the threads and can't figure it out.

My best guess is that I am using a different version of Survey123 connect than you but when I have run into issues in the past sometimes it is simplest to copy all of the xlsx sheets into a separate excel sheet, create a new survey in Connect, paste the cells in the new survey, save and republish. Then edit the thank you screen in web designer and publish. Sometimes things get funky in connect after republishing many times.

Thanks Sarah for your perseverance! That's a good suggestion, I'm hoping someone from ESRI might respond too as I'd love to know how to configure it in Survey123.

in your original post you have the thank you field set as a note. Populate the relevant field for your thank you note to only show once the question above it has an answer.

But I want it to show once they've actually submitted the form, not when they've filled in the penultimate question (sorry - I'm honestly not being deliberately awkward!!)

@SarahHartholt I was also wondering if that would do the trick. Possibly the multiple publishing of the xls form throughout the creation process made it so that it can't be overwritten by the designer anymore. I will try out creating a brand new form with the details I have finalized for my survey.

@HelenCooper I finally got mine to work properly using the web designer method. I had to download and install the newest version of Survey123 (3.12) and then I had to create a brand new survey and import the original survey xml into it!

I was finally able to get this to work by adding the row below to Survey123 connect and choosing "Always use latest version" in the settings.

type	name	label
note	generated_note_prompt_submitted	Custom Text: ${desired_field_content}

Any design changes for "Thank You Screen" will be overwritten so include everything you want in the Label column. I have several lines of text and hyperlinks.

I too am facing this issue, how do I modify the thank you screen once published from S123 Connect. Using the web designer used to work but no longer. Seems there needs to be the ability to modify the thank you screen from S123 Connect.
