Which book are you using? There are at least five out now. Each one has a different virtue. You aren't missing anything in the attribute table interface. I have been using Pro for two years from 1.3 to 2.3.2 and agree with what you say about editing. I often end up back in 10.5.1 and don't want to be there. I am obligated to teach my coworkers to use Pro. QGIS is not a valid alternative for all tasks here.

I don’t see any bugfix related to this in the 2.3.2 release, but you could just try 2.3.2 and see. Then, if needed, take it up with ESRI Support and open a case. That’s how bugfixes get started. My crashes seem to be attribute table related, however, all of my recent labeling work was done in Map. I will try my next complicated layout in Pro.

Jamal, Are you on a company network or using all of your data on D:? Isn't 😧 and E: usually the DVD drive? If so, your data needs to move to either C: on the hard drive, or some network folder. You should avoid saving anything on a Citrix file share, as it only leads to heartache. If you are working remotely from home, try to match up your drive letters to the GIS system in the office. (This is very, very true in AutoCAD also.) If the file existed as an .mxd, you should use Open without a template; then Insert tab, then Import Map. This avoids the defaults in the .apr format above. Those are two significant differences from the .mxd format. Essentially, ignore those defaults. This is my suggestion in ArcMap as well...ignore the default geodatabase and save to a network drive organized by project. Making a huge default .gdb just leads to owning a big bucket of trash. If you have very slow and large raster imagery, that might belong on C: since it will be much faster to cut imagery apart or assemble a mosaic. If you have a .sde connection in Catalog, you will need to copy it from the user profile to a system folder. Jay

One could try this: https://itstillworks.com/how-to-configure-shared-memory-through-bios-10034.html That would reassign some system memory to the video card you currently have. Otherwise, a workstation video card such as the AMD Radeon Pro or NVIDIA Quadro is best. The Radeon replaced the FireGL video card product line in 2016. Pro does need 8 to 16 GB of memory, and that usually means recycling any Vista-era computer. My office has only one 4 GB computer in a conference room, and it crashed immediately on startup with Pro. 8 GB is just fine in our other meeting rooms. I run 10.6.1 on a newer laptop which was all of $200. I will try 2.3 on there... Crash dump files live here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ESRI\ErrorReport Both Pro and Map crashes get saved there.

I tried defining the projection as WGS84 on a dataset that a coworker had trouble with. Out of frustration, I used QGIS to do this. Once that was set on these points, it was possible to use them to create a point shapefile. Make sure the .prj file accompanies any result. Likewise, a way to unset the projection is to delete it...and to set it manually one can take a copy of a .prj and rename it to match the .shp name. The .prj can be opened in Notepad to prove it matches, and you can also do that with world files.

Have you looked at this sort of problem in authentication? Error: ArcGIS Connection has stopped working Or, sometimes http and https do not switch over smoothly. Portal and AGOL authentication in Navigator was a big source of frustration in past versions.

Yes, it was a very large amount of data to compress. My first project in Navigator was for BNSF Railway, to route insurance investigators to derailments. Our staff often drove SUVs and trucks with rail wheels, so our routing had to include tracks or rough ballast side roads. BNSF operates in about 28 states. ArcGIS Online and FME: Live maps with BNSF Railway - YouTube My second Navigator project was for EQT in Pittsburgh. We were trying to route company vehicles and contractor vehicles away from downtowns and school zones in Pennsylvania. Our pilot county was Greene County, which is full of oil and gas wells. Each wellhead had a gravel road to the well. https://www.eqt.com/

The map package took several hours to create when I tried it by state or region. This was too large to fit in the iPhone 5 or 6, given that at the time Navigator could not store map cards in the microSD card. I was told last year that Navigator might have that ability later. I cut my spatial area down to a single county on the next project, and those MMPKs usually worked or failed within one hour. Do you have StreetMap Premium, or your own vector centerline? How well was the snapping of intersections done?

What is being compressed? Imagery or vector? What spatial area? I found that a county was about as much as Navigator was capable of, and at best that took an hour. Larger areas took about 6 to 10 hours and would often crash at 71% or after writing a file.
