Does anyone know if the Classify LAS by Height (3d Analyst) tool compute height from a reference surface and if so is it a TIN or DEM?

Doesn't matter how complex...one feature class or 50 ...takes minutes....like 15 to just see the features...adding the features takes as long...

Thanks Lance but neither of these address my needs..which I may not have stated well. My need is a data structure that captures boundaries (fields) and maintains them thru time and area changes (being broken into smaller areas for research but still part of the whole). The one data design that comes to mind are HUCS…but was hoping someone had tackled this in a farm research facility.. Thanks Ken Bates GIS Extension Specialist Kentucky State University College of Agriculture, Communities and the Environment 400 East Main Street Cooperative Extension Building, Suite 107 Frankfort, KY 40601 502-597-7016 www.kysu.edu<http://www.kysu.edu/land_grant/gis> (on ascertaining the true shape of the earth)...the answer lies partly with the fact that eighteenth-century scientists, the French in particular, seldom did things simply if an absurdly demanding alternative was available.....Bourguer and La Condamine thus spent nearly a decade working toward a result they didn't wish to find only to learn that they weren't even the first to find it. Listlessly they completed their survey,...and still not speaking (for almost 9 years), they returned to the coast and took separate ships home....from "A Short History of Nearly Everything" Bill Bryson

Our school has a research farm with defined field boundaries that we are about to update and catalog. What I would like to see a data model or example of how to use that to track use, changes in boundary, subsetting of boundaries through time.

I had the same issues...blamed Window 10 etc....or the older cpu's but I have an hp demo Z2 which came with Win 7 on it. ArcMap would load in less than 15 secs...upgraded to 10 and installed Kaspersky's... ArcMAP startup...2 mins...uninstalled Kasperky's and back to less than 15 secs...Window Defender seems to work fine!

When you set a definition query on a layer in ArcMap, it would be nice to have some cue to let you know that not all of the records in the layer is showing (due to the query). Something akin to the exclamation point when the link to the data is broken.

Painfully.... I betting there are a lot of users from the Conference who thought the same thing I did... Go back, create local content and publish it via ArcGIS.com...
