Service Layer Credits providing too much information

Question

The Service Layer Credits dynamic text used to only display information about the background of the map. Recently (3.6?), it seems to provide information about every map service, even locally hosted ones, in the map frames in the layout. Is there a way to just display the background map service (almost always in our case ESRI-provided backgrounds)? The service credits, which I want to display, are getting extremely long in many cases.

A little more background:

I have been seting up our services to include more information in the 'Acknowledgments' section than needs to be shown in the service information.

The acknowledgments (credits) information is what is included in the service credits path. Reducing this information results in simpler 'service credits' text.

The information that I have taken out of this section, I put into the description area of the service. We change our background fairly often (clients - internal and external - change their minds about what background they want on the maps) so we want to avoid freezing the service credits info by converting to text.

Thank you Robert and Tom. I don't remember seeing references to our local services before 3.6. Anyway, looks like this 'as designed.' I'll convert the services to text and remove the unnecessary information. Thanks for the input.
