Users that I work with are having problems using ESRI's ArcOnline Basemaps (specifically World Imagery Basemap) because the load and redraw rates are very slow.  I have had them switch to the same coordinate system as the basemap (WGS 1984 Web Mercator, Auxiliary Sphere) and this usually resolves the problem.  However, most of our working data is in Alaska Albers Equal Area Conic, and some users find WGS 1984 difficult to deal with in very high latitude areas (north slope) due to distortion.  Are there any other suggested solutions for speeding up redraw rates? ... I created a virtual field trip for teachers. It's fantastic! However, two big issues. Some users are being routed to a log in page when using the link. As far as I can tell, this is limited to those using Safari. It works fine with Chrome and Mozilla. Second issue--teachers have requested I use a safe you tube link for the embedded videos so kids aren't bombarded with ads and questionable content. It's easy to create safe you tube links from a standard you tube link, however StoryMaps does not seem to recognize that link. Any suggestions? THANKS! ... View more

Hi Folks -  I'm trying to get a list of the layers used in our organization's dashboard via Python. I can get a list of the dashboard without a problem: for item in gis.content.search(query="NOT owner:esri_livingatlas",item_type="Dashboard", max_items=maxItems): row = (item.title,item.owner,item.access,item.id,site,pubdate) print('Dashboard:',row) dashCursor.insertRow(row) dashID = item.id dashTitle = item.title dashOwner = item.owner But am thrown off by the fact that I can't just modify the code that we've use to get layers from a web map: imap = WebMap(item) layer_list = wmo.definition['operationalLayers'] layer_list = imap.layers Is there something analogous that we can use for Dashboards? Can Python be used to compare datasets?  We have 2 directories stuffed with datasets. I need to sort thru the directories to determine which dataset is a stand-alone vs. a duplicate in a 2nd directories. Any ideas on how to go about this? ... View more
