Attempting to deploy a solution and after I select my coordinate system, the deployment counts up to 60 and then returns with a "failed to deploy" message. Attempting to deploy the Electric Distribution Data Management for ArcGIS Online.
APR (ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing) defines the network by linear referencing. The utility network defines the network by connectivity. Depending on how you want to represent your pipeline you may want to use either one or both together.

I'm not sure what the APR extension you're referring to is, but the Utility Network requires the Utility Network Management Extension because it works using a services-based architecture and branch versioning. Having the UN Management Extension allows for version management over services as opposed to via direct connections to the database, as well as other capabilities that allow the user to administer, analyze and edit the UN.

What is the difference between this extension APR extension? and in order to build a hydrocarbon transmission pipelines network, do I need both extinctions or APR would be enough?
Third question, would UPDM 2019 accommodate on-line data transmitted from the filed like sensors signals that pushed to the database either on time intervals or per occurred events (e.g. leak alarm)
We found that we actually had to upgrade to Pro 2.2+ in order to see untools listed.

If you like some help, you'll need to provide more information and do some more reading on the documentation pages (eg. Get started with the Electric Utility Network Configuration). Adding the python package doesn't give you access to the ArcGIS Pro packages for the different models. I have replied to your other post about the models.
Upgrading the asset package is unrelated to the data model. It's similar to upgrading your geodatabase -- it's just changing the schema of the underlying A_ and B_ tables for example.
Unless you need to take advantage of new geodatabase / UN functionality, upgrading is not necessary.

Are you able to go into more detail about the schema/domain changes?
I would consider a schema change to be significant and be a mandatory requirement to upgrade the asset package. Just trying to understand the changes and that only a warning comes up and to me that suggests its not important to upgrade.

It simply upgrades the schema of the asset package tables and domains. Does not affect the modeling of the UN.
I have downloaded the latest UNM for electric from arcgis.com and the info within the version table has it as V2 with V2.0.1 model.
When using the Apply Asset Package gap tool, it brings up a warning about not being the latest version and to use to Upgrade gp tool.
When an upgrade is done, the version has it as 2.3 with 2.0.1 model. Is there a list of what the Upgrade tool does to lift 2.0 to 2.3? Is it adding new fields, changing data types, adding/removing attribute rules, changing arcade expressions, adding/removing edge/junction rules, changing asset group/asset types?
I noticed you selected a service territory from your Egdb, could you try one from a file geodatabase?
Also, before you run stage, open the python window in pro
Type the fillowing, this will activate more verbose messaging

There's no separate install required for the Utility Network Management extension; you just need to license it in order to utilize.
Can someone confirm or explain how the Utility Network Management Extension gets installed, since it's an ArcGIS Enterprise Extension? Is there an installer file available for download on My Esri?

1: Yes, but if you add something to the Asset Type domains, you will have to further configure the utility network properties
2: Yes, but subtypes are Asset Groups. You will have to further configure the utility network properties.
3: Yes, no additional configuration required, unless you want to use those values as part of a subnetwork/trace definition. If so, you need to look at setting up network attributes.

I have installed the Electric Utilities and extension and I did apply the Electric Asset Package without populating the test data so the domain feature classes contain no data.
I would like to make some changes but I am not sure whether it would cause any problems. Basically, i would like to be advised on what changes I can/cannot make to the Electric Utility Asset Package configuration after installation.
In case the following is not safe, does it mean i have to configure everything from scratch?
1. Can I safely append attribute domain values to what you have already defined?
2. Can I safely add additional SubTypes to the domain feature classes?
3. Can I safely add new fields to the structure and domain feature classes?

The extension is included with the software, just needs to be licensed. I will get the help update to eliminate the confusion.
Not yet. The requirements say that the Extension has to be downloaded on a Federated Server BEFORE downloading the tools or add-in (both downloaded onto a desktop for use with Pro). You are on #3 of this:

I must be missing something: I can't find the download or instructions for the extension?? They system requirements say that the Utility Network Management Extension must be deployed on an ArcGIS server site, THEN you go through the steps to download the add-in and tools. We have AGS Server Enterprise Standard 10.6.1. When I look on myesri.com I do not see this extension. I clicked "ArcGIS Server" to view the downloads and it is not listed. Where is the extension? Are there any instructions for download? Thanks
This refers to the user that you were logged into the portal with when you created the utility network. It needs to be that user.

I am trying to Enable Network Topology during configuring the Electric Utility Network, but I am getting the following message:
ERROR 002144: The account logged into Portal must be the owner of the utility network to perform this operation.
I am logged in to Portal as the Administrator. I don't have an owner of the utility network who can log into Portal. The owner of the utility network I have is the database user.

While sharing Gas Utility Network as a Web Layer, it is throwing error "Failed to publish web layer". The error in event viewer is as follows:
"The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {3EEF301F-B596-4C0B-BD92-013BEAFCE793} and APPID {3EEF301F-B596-4C0B-BD92-013BEAFCE793} to the user UNET-DEV1\arcgis SID (S-1-5-21-1010502828-3021337828-3914310023-1003) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."
I looked for the solution and followed the steps given in https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-event-10016-error-the-application-specific-permission-settings-do-not-grant-local-activati… to take the ownership for CLSID and AppID in registry and then changed the permissions in DCOM Config.
Still not able to publish the the web layer.

The tool is unable to find it in your portal then. You might need to use Fiddler to determine why pro cannot find that service. The solutions deployment tool is using a version of the python api to connect to the portal.
If you open the python window in ArcGIS Pro and enter the following code:

If you search your portal for this - tags:source-1127763d78de479b831e90a0d3f8bd7a, does the feature service show up? The Solution Deployment Tools is using this to find the service in your org. We are revising this process and with the release next week, you will be able to select your target feature service

When we try to publish the Utility network to ArcGIS Enterprise it is throwing an error as "00147 : The GIS server Role/extension is not licensed on the ArcGIS Server".When i checked the arcgis server ,Utility network management license is authorized and having validity.Also properly federated to Portal for arcgis.
In this case what are the things we need to check to overcome.
Is there any separate installer exist for Utility network management for arcgis enterprise.

I have published the Electric Distribution Utility, Naperville sample to SQL Server. Branch versioning enabled so it published as a feature service with version management and the Utility Network extension enabled. On starting all I receive is:"
Electric_Distribution_Utility_Network.MapServer:
<Name of Service removed> Unspecified error"
No error details in log (debug level), no event viewer messages, nothing except this "Unspecified error". This has now happened for two of us in the company, two different machines, two different setups: Exact same error. So wondered if anyone else has seen this?
Chad, the asset package is provided via the Solutions Deployment tool (it also comes with a Pro project for publishing).

I'm struggling to find an actual Asset Package to download (*.gdb file). I've staged the Electric Utility Network, now trying to Apply the Asset Package. Is this something I need to go to my distributor to obtain? I tried to Export an Asset Package from the network created in the Staging step just to generate something but that generates an error - ERROR 000001 Export is not supported on structure only utility networks (and doesn't logically make sense to export from something not yet created, but I tried anyway). The link provided to the ArcGIS solutions page seems to send me in a loop searching for something to actually download.Thanks for any assistance or pointers in the right direction.
Check with your sales team to make sure you have the right authorization file for the utility network publishing. If you continue to have issues please let me know and I will follow up with the utility network team.

We are running into a strange issue. We have successfully published UN service on ArcGIS Server. The service does not start by default. We receive an error message as below
Unable to obtain license for Utility Networks.
We have a valid UN extension license, and are able to see the same in ArcGIS Server authorizations in ArcGIS Server manager. Is this a bug. Did we miss any configurations (We have used the default Electric Distribution Utility Network provided by ESRI)
Can you please provide a resolution.

Thanks for the questions.
1) The ArcGIS Utility Network Management Extension was designed to be run in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 and above and most of the heavy lifting (edits, analytics and other good stuff) is limited to ArcGIS Pro at the moment. We anticipate further enhancements across web and mobile solutions. The utility network utilizes a new form of branch versioning which unfortunately ArcMap is unable to recognize even though the feature service is published through REST endpoints like other services.
2) The tools provided for utility network support are currently available only in ArcGIS Pro.
3) Unfortunately, ArcMap is unable to recognize the new versioning through REST services.
I hope this answers your questions.

Working with the Electric Distribution Utility Network deployment, if I set my internal Portal as the 'Active Portal' then try to 'Deploy' the solution I get the error 'Failed to Add'.
If I sign out of my Portal and set AGOL as the active portal, ArcGIS Pro will allow me to Deploy the solution. It appears to be broken in terms of adding the solution to the internal Portal.

I am able to configure Gas Utility Network from the gas_asset package. When I deploy Gas Network Editor from ArcGIS Solutions, I get an error message: Could not convert string to float: '2.1.1'
Gas Network Viewer is deployed successfully.
