There are a bunch of issues with enforcing updates, and those posts already exist. However, I don't think this one use-case has been.
Simply, when you refresh the Inbox, S123 should also check for updates and new linked content. (This is of course in addition to all the other update changes that need to happen).
Reason for this specific workflow needing attention? I've found some users leave S123 open to a specific survey on their PC, and leave their PC unattended for long periods of time (field staff). When they come back, they wake PC, press refresh Inbox, try completing a task, and subsequently send me an email saying something wasn't updated in the process. My response always ends up being "close and reopen app", and of course it magically works because S123 checked for updates when the app was reopened.
