Based on Esri's posting about not supporting the Flex and Windows Silverlight api's beyond the current version, I am in the process of converting our current Flex Viewer applications to JavaScript, I will be taking JavaScript training, but I am wondering how easy it will be to convert my current applications with their functionality to JavaScript? The Web AppBuilder Developers Edition (WAB) is probably you best bet to get started. There are many resources on GeoNet to help, and many users have started creating custom widgets to help us all out. WAB does require access to ArcGIS Online or a Portal account to get started....if you prefer to avoid that, the Javascript API is the place to start with the many samples available. ArcGIS API for JavaScript
