Add Members from group does not see AD Distribution List

Question

Trying to add members from Active Directory. The search does not return the objects tag as Distribution Lists.
i.e. ...,OU=Distribution Lists,OU=Groups...

It does see the object if OU=Security Groups,OU=Groups

Is there a way to get Distribution lists included?

SAML is not an option and this is Windows AD, not azure

If you are using Azure AD (Entra) via SAML, this will be a setting in the application registration item in Azure.    You, or your Azure admin, can choose what to send in the SAML assertion, which will include group membership information.   I think it defaults to just security groups but you can tell it to include distribution groups too.
