ArcGIS User Types Pricing and Updates - Migration Pricing Required

ESRI is updating the user type license model to six (6) role-based user types that expand access to ArcGIS , effective June 2024. Will an upgrade pricing or transition model be provided by the large pool of customers who use the concurrent use license model. As a user community we need to push for a migration path.

*For many this will double their licensing requirements and triple their annual maintenance costs.

Some examples:

Current Maint. on ArcGIS Advanced, Primary Maintenance is $3,350 per year,

Current Maint. on ArcGIS Advanced, Secondary Maintenace is $1,340 per year,

While the subscription that provides Advanced desktop functionality is Professional Plus—$4,200/year.

In addition to being more expensive per year, concurrent use licenses when used with a pool usually support 2x the number of users. Thus 25 Advanced seats support 40-50 unique users per month. And since user requirements change as they progress through a project, you may actually support > 60 users over the year with concurrent use licenses. That is why this change is problematic.

The ArcGIS Ideas Submission Guidelines and Statuses indicate that:

3. Pricing and licensing requests are not a good fit for Idea Exchanges. Please work with an account manager or sales team with feedback about pricing or what is included at certain license levels.  Ideas related to these will be archived. 

We have checked in with your account manager and confirmed that you are working together on contracts. Therefore, we are closing this idea and will archive it in accordance with the guidelines.
