ArcGIS Online Map Viewer > Add media layers: 'The Layer, [layername], cannot be added to the map'.

I create a Media Layer, upload an image from my device, but then get 'The Layer, [layername], cannot be added to the map'. I've only just started trying to create a Media Layer. I've tried maybe 30 times with various configurations but that dialog has popped up consistently (see attachment).

I've rebooted my Macbook Pro (running Monterey 12.6.3), tried both Chrome 112.0.5615.49 and Safari 16.3, cleared the caches on both, tried uploading a 143 KB PNG and a 250 KB JPG, applied the relevant advice here (https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-blog/troubleshooting-error-the-layer-layername-cannot/ba-p/885847), yet still the same dialog.

I'm flummoxed and open to suggestions please.

Yup this is a web app builder application: https://edenenterprises.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=0d74c778bc24454da402b96322a3f68c

I would recommend using Instant App basic viewer after you publish with that you would have to update the website with the embed snippet thats automatically generated for you in the instant app builder.

It looks like you are opening the map in a 3.x client like a Web AppBuilder app. Apps built off of the 3.x JSAPI will not support media layers. Example apps include Map Viewer Classic and Web AppBuilder. If you open the web map in an instant app, experience builder or Map Viewer the media layer will load.

Thanks Russ. Just to be clear, since I'm far from fluent in ESRI lingo, the ESRI map that appears in this page (https://eden.enterprises/pristine-parishes) is the wrong type of client? I ask because it produces the error message I referred to. If so, please could you point me to a page that tells me how to insert a different client on the Eden site, since I have long forgotten how I managed to do so!
