Is there something about that workflow that doesn't work or give you the result you're looking for? Or are you just simply wanting to change the page's color without adding a shape?

Could you please add any additional context or details in the ideas description? Thanks

Yeah I add a shape currently. Looking to be able to like right click the background and get a symobology pane to change directly.

Although adding a shape solves the problem, it does feel a bit clunky. A layout page colour as a property would be more intuitive as @Laura is suggesting.
