Garmin VIRB discontinued. What is an alternative camera?

I currently have a Garmin VIRB that I use with good success.  I want to add another camera to my inventory, but Garmin has discontinued the VIRB.  What other MISB compliant cameras are recommended?  GoPro?  Are there write ups for integrating data from other cameras into FMV?  The Garmin write ups are great.

A little on how I use the Garmin.  I mount the camera to my vehicle to film road systems.  Then when I am looking through my notes on repairs needed for a road system, I can go back to the footage and see that exact spot using FMV in ArcMap.  I mostly just want to be able to have it show a track line as the video plays, to give me an idea where I am on my map.

It's been five or six months since I processed a video from my Garmin.  I seem to remember there being a Garmin specific template that I had to included in the Mulitplexer.  Would that be the case with the GoPro?

The GoPro cameras should work, but I don't know of any proven tests.  If anyone reading this can provide sample metadata (xyz position from GPS, heading and pitch from other sensors, timestamp at a minimum) we'd be happy to test with our Video Multiplexer geoprocessing tool.

See http://esriurl.com/FMVfaq for listing of metadata fields.  Ideally the data format would be correct "out of the box" but this can be edited before ingesting into ArcGIS.

Note this is not applicable to 360 degree panorama cameras; for support of 360 imagery (including video), see http://esriurl.com/OrientedImagery.  For the simple application you describe here, Oriented Imagery (compatible with ArcGIS Pro and the web, but not ArcMap) would meet your needs.
