This section is devoted to the different ways that GIS, maps, images and films are used to change society and support environmental activism. It began at the SCGIS 2017 conference with a new "Maps for Advocacy" plenary workshop organized by Janice Thompson and Marty Schnur of The Wilderness Society, with help from the National Geographic Society. Those presentations, and related material about making storymaps, photographs, talks and interviews more compelling and more effective in motivating others to change, are the primary resources in this section
