It would be great if future versions of Portal provided the ability to customize the sign-in page to allow custom sign-in instructions and branding. We currently have to edit portal system html and javascript files that seem to change with each upgrade.
GREAT IDEA!!
This would be good indeed!
Much needed!
Very much need this. We have our portal set up so that our users do not need to use their @domain, and I can't tell you how many people I can see are struggling to get into our portal when I look at the portal logs. It would be great if we could add our organizational logo and some text explaining to users how they should format their username in order to log on.
I was under the impression that one is able to add text and instructions to the Portal login page since version 10.7 or 10.7.1. Is this not the case? This has been requested since before version 10.6.1, so I'm just curious.
Huge thumbs up for this idea!
We frequently have to assist users in telling them their AD password is associated with their account, and have to unlock their AD accounts on a daily basis. This small hiccup of locking individual logins account for over 95% of our teams Portal tickets.
Would be great to have the capability to add in messaging to our users, and as others mention above, allow an organizational logo/banner so users know this is behind our firewall.
Great idea, this is absolutely needed.
Great idea!
TBH, this is a requirement if Portal should be accepted in tightly intergrated Enterprise environments.
This is a MUST for every integration with a customer specifix UX-Design.
👍
This would save soooo many user login help requests if we can just explain what username to use on the login screen itself!
Thank you for your Idea! Are your needs currently met with the home page editor? If not, could you please provide more details on additional improvements you are seeking.
Thank you!
@MaggieBusek while I didn't submit this idea, I have been following it for quite a while. The home page editor does not meet these needs. This idea pertains to the login screen that's presented before a user can get to the home page. This page:
We want to be able to edit this page and provide useful instructions to users. I believe that many of us here represent admins that use Portal logins that come from Active Directory. We get a lot of inquiries from people who do not know their username and password, because they don't realize they should be using their AD username and password. To be able to provide help text, company branding, and contact info on this login page would save us so much time and help our users to login successfully. As far as I am aware the only way to configure this page is an unsupported workflow - editing config files. Please let me know if you need any other info and I'll be happy to elaborate. I would LOVE to see this idea implemented.
I didn't create the idea but I think the issue is that we would like to be able to edit the Portal login page, before anyone gets to the home page. Users click on a desktop icon or link to Portal and are sent to the login page. Often, users get confused as to whether they have to put in their whole email, username with domain, or AGOL login etc. It would be great to add instructions directly on this screen:
Hi @EmmaG , I believe OP was referring to this:
It's the actual Sign In page when you go to Portal Sign in. I was able to modify it as seen in the photo making some adjustments on the backend but it is very difficult and cumbersome. It would be great if ESRI provided an interface to do this, much like it has done for other aspects of Portal for customizing.
As the last couple posts have mentioned it would be great to be able to customise the login page to provide additional instructions to users, in particular with our implementation of active directory.
While we could go in to the backend and customise it ourselves it would be great to have a proper interface to add some additional element to this page.
I confirm that we have many support requests with "failed sign in".
We configured and use SAML Authentication against Azure AD which ends up in a second button below the other one. But users often enter their company username and password (!) into the ArcGIS Login form instead of pressing the button which would forward them to the Azure AD Signin page.
Thank you for the additional information! This detail is helpful as we continue to track this request.
Agreed with the above, we have a custom application connected behind Portal login with SAML that requires manual user approval. Being able to write some information about this onto the login page would be very helpful.
This would be a massive boon for our org, our #1 source of user issues is failing to login correctly. The two biggest features we'd like to see are:
This is exactly what our organization is looking for too. I think the latest comments provide plenty clarification so hoping the status of this idea changes so we can start giving more kudos to this idea. This is not modify the home page - it's to modify the sign-in screen. Many users need instructions on the sign-in page in order to sign in correctly.
This would be very useful for us. It would help orient our users and cut back on the emails we get about not remembering passwords when they are using the wrong username for AGOL/Enterprise.
I cannot give Kudos to the post so this is my kudos - we need it! 😀
This would be a huge plus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I totally agree, being able to fully customize the login page the same way it is possible for the start page is important. This request now exists for at least 8 years now (2017)Here is a visual summary of the requested customisation features of the login screen:
- Background, Button and Text color should be fully customizable to match the branding of the company.- Login messages (example:"Sign in to <Company> Portal STAGING" or "Please Enter your ##Portal credentials",...) and logo sould be fully customizable.- Optional custom text box for additional information would be useful (like adding contact information)...to name a fewBasically we wish for the the same branding options as Microsoft Entra offers: Add company branding to your organization's sign-in page - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn
@MaggieBusek could you please update the "needs clarification" flag, so we can continue upvoting?
This feature is now available in ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0.
