Can you directly download S123 Reports instead of saving to My Content

Is it possible to generate Survey123 reports so that they download directly and don't save as an item in My Content (generating more items that need to be deleted later)? The same way the Sample Report does when in the Data tab? I can't find anything saying it's possible, but hoping there is.

Also, I assume that a Mobile Work can't generate reports - only Creators?

Hi. Mobile workers can generate reports and it saves to their downloads folder on their computer. We have a few Survey123 projects where reports need to be generated and all those using the projects have mobile worker licences and are able to generate reports.

Well if you try to download data from a hosted feature layer it is a two step process where it saves the data in a file gdb in My Content by default and then you can download it from that format. There might be other formats you can save data in AGOL, but regardless it is a two step process with some cleanup needed to remove the duplicate data. A direct download would be better in this instance as well so this is just the workflow that ESRI implemented.

Reports get saved to the user's AGOL space, there isn't a direct download option and, in my experience, Mobile Workers can't generate reports.

However, you can use Power Automate to get around those hurdles. Create the report, use an HTTP request to grab the report and then do something with it. In my example I use the HTTP request to get the report and attach it to an email that is then sent. But instead of attaching it to an email you could set it to automatically save to OneDrive or a SharePoint site, or somewhere else.

The cool thing with the automated flows is that it uses the AGOL account that was used to create the connection. So, I am a Creator and I made this flow with a connection that uses my account to create the report. Because the trigger is when a survey response is submitted it doesn't matter if it is a Mobile Worker or John Q. Public submitting a response, the flow still runs because it is using my Creator credentials to generate the report. In my example the mobile worker submits a survey response, it creates a report using my credentials (and credits), then uses their email address to send them a pdf of the report.

I haven't experimented with it yet, but after the record is saved you could probably execute an HTTP delete request on the report url to delete it without needing to manually go into AGOL and start cleaning house.

Thanks for the detailed response. I suspected that this may be the only way to do this at present. Also good that it works for Mobile Workers (which I think is going to be my next headache). Will have to try it out soon.

How long have you been able to do that, and how do you do that? We tried creating reports with mobile workers probably 1-1.5 years ago and they couldn't generate reports since it tried to write to AGOL and mobile workers can't create content.
