single select "choice cannot be modified" after publishing test

Question

I am finalizing a survey that will be used by our local Fire Department as they engage in cold-weather outreach this winter. As this will be a change from paper forms, I wanted to solicit feedback from department leadership (non-ArcGIS users) prior to deploying it to the whole department. I received some requests to change the language of some single-select options, but I am not able to do so because the application has already been published. I do not need any of the records that were already submitted since these were for testing purposes only. Is there any way to update these options as long as I'm willing to delete previous entries?

Choices have two components: name, and label. You can update the label without issue (I do this often for indecisive peoples). The name not so much. Sounds like they just want the label updated?

That said, I see you are using the S123 Web App. Does the S123 Web App even give you the option to specify name/label (doesn't look it)?

If you use Connect, you get more control over these settings.

You can ADD or DELETE choices in lists, not update.

Adding choices creates domain values on the layer itself.

If you don't need any of the data I would try:

* Delete the features (to avoid weird existing domain issues)
* Delete the choice you want to update (removing it from the domain)
* Add the choice back with the desired changes
