Moments ago, NASA's Perseverance rover successfully landed on Mars after a 300 million mile journey that took nearly seven months. This Mostly Mapping Map of the Week features a custom app built using the latest JavaScript API which supports non-earth geoids, making accurate measurements and location possible.

Using the app, you can explore Mars by viewing previous landing sites, comparing the size of regions (like states and countries) to features on the planet, and even compare terrain in 3D.
