During this time of reflection and thanks, who is the largest group you thank? There is a special group, of whom we've all had many, and perhaps more than we might first consider: teachers.

The fortunate among us recognize many on our personal list:

  • parents, elders, siblings, special friends, life partners;
  • classroom teachers, club leaders, coaches, mentors, supervisors, colleagues;
  • people who, thru few if any interactions with us, changed our lives -- Samaritans who, knowingly or not, by word or deed, by intervention or even just modeling, spared someone from trauma, lent a hand, or even just illuminated a particular path;
  • those whose works, lives, and stories have given inspiration;
  • and on and on it goes.

It is indeed fitting and proper that we pause, give thanks to the formal and informal educators, current and past, who shaped our world … and, ideally, pay it forward, with interest, and intent.

Charlie, thanks so much and I am going to select 3 things to be thankful for and recognize this week:

1.  The librarians who let me browse for hours at the public library when I was growing up (hopefully I was not too much of a nuisance), and my parents who even though on a limited income, let me order, year after year, my own books from Scholastic.  Hooray for reading!  It encouraged me to learn as much as I could about the world's people and places.

2.  The instructors whom I have worked with over the past decades, in professional development workshops, meetings, conferences, on field trips, and elsewhere, who have despite the challenges they faced, inspired me to keep tapping on every door and window that could potentially open, to speak the message that "critical, holistic, and spatial thinking matters."

3.  You, Charlie, because you have made it clear to me over the years that being enthusiastic about learning and always being curious are traits to be cultivated and cherished.

Big thank you to everyone on the ESRI Community forums for being awesome, supportive, wonderful people!

It's so nice to have a place to trade ideas - as well as ask a lot of questions (sometimes me asking a lot of duh questions 😁) and everyone is so helpful. The community has saved me on multiple occasions.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!
