More Map Actions styles (right now, there are button-style and link-style). Map Action is a great way to supercharge our stories (e.g. customer anchors, reverse anchors - to jump from one part of the story to another besides the top tabs.)
Thanks for sharing this idea. Could you provide some more detail about what you mean by more styles?Are you looking for additional styles for the existing buttons and links (such as a filled button, etc.). Or are you looking for a third way to represent an action in addition to a link or button? If so, what does that look like?
Simple example would be that Story Maps can quite long and 'scrolly' (if that's a word). Sometimes, it can become overwhelming for users and they do lose interest. If we can provide intermittent anchors within a long story so users don't have to go all the way up to the top tab-level anchors to navigate content of their interest. Instead we can provide anchor-buttons to specific asset within the Story Maps so we can tell the story as we want them to see it but also give them options to explore or re-explore some components of the story without navigating everything and start at the top level.
I'd like to see pop-ups being activated as part of map actions. It would also be great to be able to use map actions not just within a sidecar format, but within any embedded map.
Agree with @HelenCooper's suggestion to have pop-ups activated as a map action. Along those lines, to have highlighted selected features as a map action.
I wish there was a "highlight feature" option for the Actions! Similar to how ArcGIS Dashboards work - where if you clicked on the action, it also highlighted the portion of the map you wanted to zoom too.
Hello! This thread has collected additional ideas beyond the initial one that was posted. As mentioned in the ArcGIS Ideas Submission Guidelines, it's best to have "one submission = one idea" so community members understand what they are voting for and development teams can clearly differentiate specific features and enhancements.
If would be great if one of the subsequent commenters (@HelenCooper, @tt5vw1, @SaraJL, @KathrynHailes) could please create a separate idea for including the ability to show a pop-up when a map action is triggered so that can be tracked separately. (Also...good news -- that feature is in development!).
@HimanshuMistry -- In October 2023, the ability was added to easily insert a link to another section of a story. Please see these blog posts for more information and a video of this capability.
I'm going to mark this idea as IMPLEMENTED since the original request has been addressed. Please submit new ideas if there are other new capabilities you'd like to see added to map actions.
