Shapefile Export with Datum Profile set in Field Maps

Good afternoon,

I have a question about exporting hosted feature layers from AGOL that have been collected in Field Maps with a set 'Profile'. On our collection map, I have set a web based basemap that is set to our specific state plane coordinate system. Then on Field Maps, I have also set the 'Profile' to that exact state plane coordinate system. When collecting there's no issues, however when exporting the collected data to shapefiles from AGOL, the projected coordinate system returns back to WGS. So I then convert it back to our state plane cooridnate\ system in ArcMap. My question is, even thought we have state plane coordinate system on AGOL & Fieldmaps, AGOL still exports as WGS as a default? Thanks

As far as I know, you cannot set a certain projection in AGOL.

You have to use ArcGIS Pro.

When sharing to AGOL, your layer can be set to the desired projection. You will also have to set your map in ArcGIS Pro to the desired projection of your layer. For some reason in ArcGIS Pro if your maps is for example Web Mercator and your layer is in state plane, they layer will share as web mercator... so make sure both map and layer are set to same projection when sharing to AGOL.

Your map and layers can be different projections, layers in AGOL project on the fly so your layers can be visualized in another projection.

To see what your layer is projected in on AGOL, go to your layer and view URL

There are sites like this one the help you find out what your layer is projected in :Coordinate reference systems (epsg.io)

You can see mine is 3735 which is my local state plane, you can search this on the website. There is a certain way you have to share your layer to AGOL for it to project properly. If you make your layer in AGOL it will always default to Web Mercator (3857)

How ever your layer is projected in AGOL is how it will export.

wow okay yeah i see it now, mines at 3857. so when creating the feature layers in AGOL, i dont remember there being a setting to set the projection. is there a way to go back and change it or set it to the desired projection? thanks!

Awesome thanks, i haven't used Pro much, we do have it, but since we still use ArcMap i haven't had a chance to check Pro out. I went straight to AGOL to recreate our feature layers when we transitioned from the old Trimble Geo6 units, to collecting in Field Maps/AGOL with mobile devices. Ever since I've posted a few questions from stuff I've noticed on AGOL and they all lead back to Pro haha, that means I got to start looking into Pro more. Thanks again for your time.
