Does anyone give a simple test when interviewing potential hires? Like a basic knowledge test?

I usually ask these questions:

• What is GIS?
• Projected vs Geographic Coordinate System
• What is a datum?
• Vector vs Raster data with some examples
• Ask about basic geoprocessing tools, differences in expected results (buffer, clip, union, intersect, etc)
• Select by Attribute vs Select by Location
• Join vs Spatial Join
• Topology vs Topography
• Shapefiles vs Feature Class
• Where can you go to find authoritative data? (a good example is any govt agency GIS site)
• Web GIS - Have you published data to ArcGIS Online/Enterprise, what is the difference between a Map and an App, map vs feature service
• Simple python/model builder questions
• What resources do you use to find solutions (Geonet, GIS Stack Exchange, etc)
• Basic map elements
