Hi all,

I am working with a client that wishes to implement ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3 on-premise or cloud or hybrid and achieve 99.999% ( five 9s) of the uptime (equates to ~5 minutes outage per year). Is this even possible? Is there any online documentation on what may be needed to achieve this?

Thanks,

For reference: "ArcGIS Online offers geographic redundancy and a 99.9 percent uptime commitment."
(Source: https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/arcgis-online/features/saas-infrastructure -> cloud based...)

"99.9% (three nines) - is equivalent to 8.77 hours of allowed downtime per year"

I would call this ambitious.

99.999%? The client is most likely not willing to pay the infrastructure and license costs (and 24/7 Support Staff!)...
If money, staff and infrastructure is no issue, sure, you can set up high available environments with geo-redundancy.
An allowance of approximately ~5 minutes of downtime increases vulnerability to various factors, including power outages, global network disruptions, and other unforeseen events. (Does your infrasturcture/hosting provider offer 99.999% availability?)

For High Availability I can recommend the ArcGIS Architecture Center | ArcGIS Architecture Center and some good documents such as Spotlight Talk: Considerations for a High Availabi... - Esri Community.  and Single-machine high-availability (active-active) deployment—ArcGIS Enterprise | Documentation for Ar...
