1. I am having issues with the parcel suitability tool because it does not seem to work with external point and polyline data. I see that the criteria need to intersect with the parcel, can the suitability tool somehow account for the distance between the parcels and the point/polyline data in external layers?

2. Is there a way for the parcel suitability tool, or another function in ArcGIS Urban, to assess parcels based on the zoning/space use types of adjacent parcels?

Hi @OghenemaroAustin-Igbuku

Thank you very much for the questions.

1 - Parcel suitability for points and polylines

The suitability tool support polyline and point feature layers as external layers, however they need to intersect with parcels in your plan's study area.

Do I assume correctly that you might want to use a proximity or accessibility score for suitability and you would like to calculate that score using point (e.g., point of interest) or line (e.g., streets) as external layers in the suitability tool? If this is the case, I would recommend to create the accessibility or proximity calculations outside of ArcGIS Urban (e.g., in Map Viewer Analysis Studio) and then using the resulting polygon layer as an external layer in the suitability tool in ArcGIS Urban.

If your use case looks differently, I'd be curious to hear more details about what you'd like to achieve.

2 - Parcel suitability with attributes from adjacent parcels

No, unfortunately there is currently no way to use the attributes from adjacent parcels in the suitability tool. I am happy to write this down as a request if you can specify a few more details on your workflow and desired outcome.

Thank you so much for your ideas!

Thank you for your response Lisa, I will employ the proximity polygon method you mentioned. Regarding the parcel suitability with attributes from adjacent parcels, being able to determine the usability of a parcel by considering the zoning or land use of surrounding parcels is helpful for selecting parcels for projects that plan for the municipal environmental that they are in. Also, I want to be able to measure the distance between parcels if they are on opposite sides of the Right of Way to manage height transitions between them.
