I sometimes see the 'Send' and 'Save' buttons non-responsive.

Symptoms:

  • The survey appears to work fine until you try doing one of the following operations: Send, Save
  • Clicking the check-mark: 'Send now' and 'Save in Outbox' buttons do nothing after being clicked. 'Continue this survey' button works normally.
  • Clicking the X: 'Save in Drafts' does nothing. 'Continue this survey' and 'Close and lose changes' work normally
  • Closing S123 with the survey open and then re-opening S123 does not create a recovery file (It also doesn't fix the issue).
  • Typically, only a full PC restart fixes the issue.

I feel like this is more likely to happen after waking a PC from sleep.

This really feels like some cyber-god is out to get you when it happens!

Hello @abureaux

This occasionally happens if you have Survey123 Connect and the Survey123 field app open at the same time on the same machine and is more likely to happen if you have the Database tools Beta setting enabled. Essentially Survey123 Connect has a database lock on the SQLite file that the field app uses to store it's data (located in C:\Users\<username>\ArcGIS\My Surveys\Databases).

This is why restarting the machine works is the lock on the database is removed on reboot and assuming you open the Survey123 field app prior to Connect when testing again it works.

Thank you,
Zach
