I have a workflow where I constantly need to update the dropdown list on a survey. First, I add the new domains in the feature service. Then make the proper alterations on Survey123 Connect to republish the form. It'd be great if both the domain and said form list are were kept in sync. Or at least have said option available for each form.
Planned for release before end of 2022. "Have Survey123 Connect automatically update feature layer domains when lists are changed in XLSForm. When a new choice is added, add it to the domain. When a new choice is deleted, leave the domain untouched. When a label is changed, update the domain accordingly".
Hi @MarioFederis1 @Katie_Clark @RobertTaylor5 @RobertAnderson3 Just wanted to let you know with the upcoming 3.16 October Release of Survey123 we have made improvements to the Connect publishing workflow with regards to domains and choice lists. You can check out the latest announcement, documentation and test out the latest 3.16 beta builds via the Early Adopter Community to get early access to these builds and the new Connect publishing workflows. You feedback on these improvements would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Phil.
Hi,
This has been implemented with Survey123 Connect 3.16. Please refer to the Survey123 documentation and the "What's new in Survey123 Connect" Esri Community blog post.
Yes please. The current instructions to "republish the survey" after adding new domain values, isn't a workable solution when the survey is being used by many field staff, and it's time consuming when the survey link is embedded into other workflows (accessed by a pop-up in different web maps). Thanks for considering this change.
Hi @KatieAndrews ,
In your use-case, is there no down time at all in which your survey could be republished? This ArcGIS Idea has already been implemented (see above post from James Tedrick).
Are you saying you'd prefer to update the domain in ArcGIS Online via the feature layer's 'Data' tab, with the expectation that the Survey123 form item automatically inherits the choice list changes?
