Polygon lines and attributes disappearing after editing or drawing.

Hello,

I am having an issue with ARCGIS pro.  I have over 100 arcgis files saved onto our server and have been struggling with an issue I cannot figure out.  After opening up a ArcGIS Pro file within 1-10 minutes, every time I draw a new shape line onto the map, the line disappears after a few seconds or minutes.  This usually happens after I "save edits".   Sometimes the line is visible, but I am unable to click and highlight the shape and eventually it will disappear.   For existing shapes already on the map, whenever I edit the vertices or attributes, the edits are reverted back to its previous state.  In order to stop this from happening, I would have to close and reopen ArcGIS Pro so that I can create new or edit the shape.  Everything will be fine, but after a minutes or so the issue would happen again.   I noticed that it barely happens with a fresh new map, but after a while adding multiple growing amounts of drawings, the issue happens quite often.

Does anyone know what issue this is and how can I fix it?

Update. I have added a video below showing the issue.

Notce, I try to change 28.00 to 29.00 by editing the attributes, but after being saved, it reverts back to 28.00.  Secondly, when I try adding a few lines, the lines disappear and evidently shows on the attributes tables.  Lastly, when I try to delete the line, it returns after I save.

Hello all,

I have tried and exhausted everything on my part.  I even tried to reinstall ArcGIS Pro, but it did not solve the issue.  I linked below a video on  YouTube of what is happening.  Please let me know if you know what could be the problem.

Yes I had this problem, are you working in a layer that you have previously copied?

If so, your edit's may be showing up in your original layer, even though you are 'creating features' in your copied layer.

There is some weird link happening, I haven't figured out how to separate the copied layer from the original  so I can edit the 'copied' layer. It may have something to do with how I copied it in the first place (which was probably just a ctrl-C / ctrl-V).

If you are not working in a copied layer, are you working in a copied map / project...maybe something do to with copying...

I was having a similar issue and this seems to have been the root of the problem. My edits would disappear after creation once I cleared the selection.  The layer I was having issues with was exported (Export Features) from another, parent layer. I noticed that my most recent edit that disappeared from the exported layer was actually being  assigned to the parent layer. Performing an additional export of the exported layer (if that makes sense) solved the issue for me.

Try deleting the spatial index.  With shapefiles you may also want to check there are no 'lock' files belonging to someone else - might be fighting someone else for write access on the network.

Just tried it but same issue happens.  I posted another video of what error messages I am receiving.

Hello, I would like to bump this topic alive again.  I have not had the chance to get this issue fixed, but it is coming to a point where this has prolonged and have endured long enough.  Unless anyone else has any pointers or other recommendations than what was provided previously on this thread, could an ArcGISpro tech contact me?  I would really appreciate it.

Since last year, the issue has now been displaying a pop error message.  Here is a recent screen recording of what it looks like now.

If you can't see the video, use link below.

Going to bump because I am still having this issue, however, I did find out one thing that is causing this occurance.  Whenever I do a Layer Search in the Locate window, it will activate whatever is causing your shapefiles edits to not save.   Don't know why or how this would happen, but I'm hoping this factor could help someone diagnose deeper and fix problem.

Someone please look into this.  Thanks

@JuddStattine Do you happen to be using any joins on the data that is having problems? Also, did you contact Esri Technical Support?

I am not sure because I use a template version made by someone else who I no longer work or have contact with.  If I remember correctly and by checking old emails, I believe you had originally helped me on this issue, but never had the chance to get back to you.  I have not yet contacted Esri Technical Support recently.

@JuddStattine I remember now 🙂

Ok that bit of detail about using the Locate pane is crucial to reproducing so thanks for sharing. I'll make sure the proper dev team is aware of the issue.
