Model Builder Quirk involving tool variables

Question

Hi,

I have been using ModelBuilder for some time now, and I've noticed a weird issue that I wonder if anyone has experienced before and if there is a fix?

I have a model that is fairly simple(11 tools), and I notice when I run the model numerous times, the tool variables in some tools will change to another variable. without my notice. Obviously, this can be frustrating and leads to added time in inputting the correct variable. 
Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a known Modelbuilder issue?

I've noticed that too. Same with the data output names.

But this issue is the inputs in the tool actually change to another variable, screwing up the process and I have to go back and change it back to the correct variable.
