Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a project that involves integrating ArcGIS for Power BI to create a world map visualizations, but I’ve hit a bit of a roadblock.

I’ve created a custom basemap that includes the specific boundary versions I need, and my dataset contains country names and a list of factual data such as population, GDP, etc.

When I place country names in the Location field and population in the Color field, and represent the locations as boundaries, I notice that the generated data boundaries don’t align with the basemap boundaries. Attached is a screenshot illustrating the problem with the northern part of India.

Details from the Screenshot:

  • Blue Layer: Represents the boundaries on basemap. These are the boundaries I need to adhere to.
  • Brown Layer: Shows the automatically generated boundaries from the data layer, which do not align with my base map.

Is there a way to fix this mismatch between the data layer and the basemap?

As an alternative, I tried representing locations as points and using the basemap to display the boundaries. However, when I input country names into the Location field and population data into the Color field, the points concentrate in the center of the map instead of distributing across the respective country's geography, as shown in the screenshot.

So if the option of represent location as boundary is not possible, how can I adjust the settings so that the points spread accurately across the country's geography in accordance with the map?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
