What might cause the services to stop as the machine restarts?

I???m wondering why the services stop as the machine restarts. Sometimes, we are forced to restart the server machine which affects the services to stop

What might be the issue here?

Thank you

Did you find any entries in the log file. Make sure that 'Restart this service automatically whenever ArcGIS Server restarts' checkbox is checked under Map Service Properties.

In Windows Services panel, assign 'Startup Type' for 'ArcGIS Server Object Manager' to 'Automatic (Delayed Start)'

You can also create batch file that can be used to restart the Map Service.

Hello Jamal,

If you restart the machine, the services will stop. It will also take some time for them to come up. You can see the services as 'arcsoc.exe' in the task manager listed running under the Arcgis Server Service account. Unless you can give a little more detail as to what the problem is, I would say that this sounds like it could be expected behavior. Please let me know if I can assist you any further. Thanks-

Justin

Many thanks Nidhin and Justin for the help,

1. The ??start up type? of the ArcGIS Server is ??Automatic Delayed Start?

2. I couldn??t figure out from where to check the ??Restart this service automatically whenever ArcGIS Server restarts? option

3. If the reboot cause the services to stop then how much time do the services need to come up? Or do we still need to start them manually?

I noticed that, sometimes, if I reboot the machine for the second time then services comes up started. Is this an expected behavior?

Hello again,

Automatic Delayed Start is the default setting, and should be fine.

I am not sure why you would need to start the service again. I suspect everything is working fine, but it is hard for me to say for sure.

May I ask why you are rebooting your server so often? It seems like that is a strange workflow for an enterprise product. Is there any way you can simply not reboot as often?

The reason I ask is, simply restarting the service once after reboot only takes a few seconds. If you can reduce the amount of reboots, the issue might not be that big of a deal to begin with.

What operating system are you using?

Thank you very much-

Justin

Many thanks Justin for the prompt answer,

As you know, it is very common to restart the server machine for multiple reasons. My point here is not whether I do reboot the sever machine so often or not, the issue here is that, sometimes, if the machine reboots, the services are found in a stop mode.

That was my point.

Thanks Nidhin,

Could you please provide a screenshot? Or do you mean the one on the screenshot below?

What is the underlying source data storage type for the services?  RDBMS, FGDB, or something else?

If RDBMS, is it Oracle or SQL Server?

Are your data sources or enterprise geodatabase on the same machine as ArcGIS for Server?

When the services appear to not be started, is it always ALL of them or only a specific set of them?

When the services appear to not be started, what happens when you manually try to start them?

What OS are you using?
