Utility network analyst: “tracing upstream” fails to show the path in case of loop with barrier,

In the screenshot below, I was expecting that the “tracing upstream” will display the path from the source to the flag despite having a loop due to the fact that one “leg” of the loop is closed by a “barrier”. is this the way it should work? The “find connected” does what I was expecting the “trace upstream” to do
