I am working on getting all the item details filled out for my content on Portal. After doing this I want to save the layers to a geodatabase saved on my local drive. When I added my Portal content to a map in ArcGIS Pro, none of these edits to the item details are populating in Properties > Metadata or in View Metadata from the Catalog Pane. Why are these metadata changes on Portal not showing in ArcGIS Pro? From the Catalog View I also cannot Edit or Synchronize metadata and review a message stating "Editing metadata is not available for this item. This item must support metadata and you must have write access". I own this layer.
Are you unable to edit Portal layer metadata in Pro and do new edits to metadata in Portal not populate in Pro?
Hello @CRennyGIS, from the ArcGIS Pro documentation: "You can edit an item's metadata if you have permission. (....) For portal items, you can edit metadata for items you own. If you are an administrator of your ArcGIS organization, you can also edit metadata for items you do not own."
Can you confirm you are using hosted feature layers from ArcGIS Online (or other items?)? I am reasking the question because you mentioned ArcGIS Online but posted it on the ArcGIS Enterprise questions board.
Is this behavior you describe specific to one layer? Or generic?
Are you an admin of the portal? What is your user type and role?
Sorry for the confusion, I edited the post. These are hosted feature layers on Portal. I have numerous layers on Portal that were transferred to my account from a previous employee that left several years ago. None of these layers are syncing the edits from the Item Details page on Portal to the metadata info on Pro. I am the data manager for several non-GIS employees who edited item details this week as well and noticed that the metadata was also not sychronizing.
I am not an admin - I am a creator user type and publisher role.
