I hope the ArcGIS Server and web adaptor are also of ver. 10.4.1.

If the above is true, check if the hosting server is configured (same page where you federated ArcGIS Server site). Configure a hosting server—Portal for ArcGIS (10.4.1) | ArcGIS for Server

Also check if the ArcGIS Server is running.

I got the same error. All is 10.4.1. Also the Web Adaptor

Where is something link a log?

Of course the ArcGIS for Server is running!

Of course it has a DataStore configured!

Of course it is registered as hosting server.

Hi Matthias,

Looks like ArcMap cannot access the Portal hosting server - which could be caused by many different reasons. I would verify that your Portal installation is working properly, along with the associated hosting server and ArcGIS Data Store installation.

Is ArcMap on the same network and domain and the Portal hosting server deployment?

Can ArcMap's machine "see" and access the Portal hosting server machine?

This KnowledgeBase Technical article also lists some things to check for to try and help troubleshot the problem:

Error: Could not access any GIS Server machines. Please contact your system administrator

Hope this helps,

Hi Derek,

many thanks for your suggestions. I checked all.

Maybe I got a problem with my network constellation.

I installed the webadaptor in our DMZ. The portal and the Hosting Server are in the intranet.

The ports 6080, 6443, 7080 and 7443 between the webadaptor server and the portal/hosting server are open.

So the webadaptor server is not in the same network.

My ArcMap is in the intranet. So it can "see" the hosting server.

Now I don´t know how to go on.
