I see that in ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 Advanced you can create Raster Catalogs and Raster Mosaics in a File Geodatabase.

Can a Raster Catalog or Raster Mosaic stored in a 10.1 File Geodatabase be published as a Map Service? or is a license for ArcGIS Server Image Ext required?

You can publish the following, as an image service:

  • Raster dataset

  • Raster layer

  • Mosaic dataset

  • Mosaic layer

http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Publishing_image_services/01540000045v0000...

I have ArcGIS for Server only.

You can only publish  raster datasets and layer files that reference raster datasets. You can  use either ArcCatalog or Manager to publish the service.

I have ArcGIS for Server and the ArcGIS Image extension .
You can publish raster  datasets, mosaic datasets, or layer files that reference raster  datasets or mosaic datasets. You can use either ArcCatalog or Manager to  publish the service.
