Questions about Credit Usage in Portal

I know there's a way to limit credit usage by user in ArcGIS Online, but is there a way to also do this in our Enterprise Portal? (We're at version11.2) I haven't been able to find any documentation about this nor find any settings in our portal related to this.

A related question: Does geocoding using the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service consume credits in Portal? Again, I know it does in AGOL, but based on this documentation, it sounds like in portal it does not for versions 11.2 or earlier, but starting with version 11.3, credits are consumed when geocoding.

No there's no way to limit credit usage or track it within ArcGIS Enterprise. You could put a limit on the ArcGIS Online user that was specified to connect to those resources. But any credit reports ran within ArcGIS Online would only show that user, not any of the Enterprise users who might be taking advantage of the functionality.

For most actions, ArcGIS Enterprise does not use credits. It's designed to provide a lot of the same (and in same cases, exactly the same) functionality as ArcGIS Online, without the worry of consuming or purchasing credits. There are some functions in ArcGIS Enterprise that leverage ArcGIS Online endpoints and will consume credits, which are outlined in that documentation link.

Geocoding using the ArcGIS World Geocoder only consumes credits when doing batch geocoding. Single geocodes (one address at a time) is free. To batch geocode in ArcGIS Enterprise for free, you would need to create and publish your own locator service.

Thanks for your reply Reese. We are planning to publish our own geocoder but in the meantime we'd like to be able to keep track of and limit credit usage by user in portal for those who are geocoding. Is there a way for us to limit (or at least track) credit usage by user in portal?
