Hi folks, grateful for any advice on this one, our Print Widget is now failing in web app builder on our Enterpise Internal Portal and this message now appears:

"This service is currently configured to use the ArcMap service runtime. Please republish this service using ArcGIS Pro to have it use ArcGIS Pro runtime"

I have never had to publish a service and grateful for any advice?

Thanks,

Katherine

Hi @KSmyth4,

Re: developer tools, you should see the network tab at the top of that screen. It may hidden, expand the toolbar with the >> button

Make sure the layouts/templates you have prepared in ArcGIS Pro are exported as layout files:

Once you have a selection of templates in a folder, you can follow the documentation from this point onwards: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/10.9.1/publish-services/windows/tutorial-publish-additional-...

Hi @KSmyth4,

Are you including any layers in the print? This message may be pointing to a Map service that is using the ArcMap runtime. At Enterprise 10.9.1 - you should be able to access ArcGIS Server manager and change the runtime by clicking on the service in question and editing the runtime (indicated by a pencil icon in the area circled in red):

Can you let me know which version of ArcGIS Enterprise you have?

How to access Server Manager: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/administer/windows/log-in-to-manager.htm

Hi @A_Wyn_Jones

I have checked on our server manager and it looks like it is running using ArcPro but we do have print templates services running using ArcMap, we did some testing and created a template service on Pro and it still wasn't working.

We are using Enterprise 10.9.1 and are now following up with our IT team to see if it is a firewall issue but testing so far is still showing the same error

Thanks,

Katherine

@KSmyth4 That's good to hear!

Here's the documentation for Pro print templates to Enterprise: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/10.9.1/publish-services/windows/tutorial-publish-additional-...

If you're not sure what's causing the error, here's a way to see exactly what's being included in the print:

  • Open the browser developer tools > Network tab before printing a map
  • Click print map
  • Look for a web request that reads "execute?f=json...." - should look like this:A_Wyn_Jones_0-1696498234348.png
  • Click this request and open the payload tab on the right
  • Here you will see the operational layers included in the print:A_Wyn_Jones_1-1696498315842.png

The URLs here should be accessible from the Service account running ArcGIS Enterprise.

Hi @A_Wyn_Jones

Thanks for this information, I have ran through the process and at the moment, I don't even get to that stage, this is what comes up in the Developer tool:

It looks like something to do with the templates that have been created, they are currently configured as MXDs but we have tested APRXs as well and no luck?

Thanks @A_Wyn_Jones for this help, much appreciated, we have the templates all created now as Layout Files and are working our way through the documentation you have provided.
