Our esri default print service and publishes print services are failing to make maps. ESRI provided the following solution. https://support.esri.com/en-us/knowledge-base/arcgis-sever-print-service-crash-when-vmware-12-5-is-i...
The problem resides with the vmware tool. We were at vmware tool version 12.5 and we rolled it back to 12.4.5. This worked. However, the tool has been automatically updating.
There are two other solutions in the link above that are directly related to configuring the vmware tool.
Has anyone else had this problem and succesfully resolved it?
@MattiasEkström thanks for letting me know. We solved this issue by only updating the Display Adapter driver to version 9.17.9.4 on the Server machine and rebooting. We did not modify the environment variable or the VMX file. Our IT did not want to modify the VMX file, fearing it would corrupt the hypervisor. The issue we have now is whether the Display Adapter driver will be reverted on our next update/patch routine. We will have to watch that.
We did patches/updates to our development server environment last night, and good news, the display adapter driver was updated to "VMWare SVGA 3D", and my custom print services continue to work properly.
