I have been teaching GIS at the introductory level for a few years now.  Everything I have learned I have taught myself and feel pretty competent for someone without a degree in GIScience, but only with regard to ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online.  My next challenge is to set up one of our school's servers as a source for hosting content as opposed to using our AGOL institutional account.  I have installed and authorized Arc Server 10.2.

Initially, I would like to be able to just publish a feature service from desktop to our server and access it through AGOL.  Is there a good educational resource, aside from spending over $1,200 at the Virtual Campus, to learn the basics?

Hi Steve,

I would start with the Web Help.  Below are some good links:

How to Publish a Service

ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)

How to add items from the web to ArcGIS Online:

Add items—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS
