My company use Mapinfo to implement our product, but now, we plan to implement it by ArcMAP

In mapinfo, there is a file named MAPINFOW.ABB (Abbravition) can be used to identify and classify keywords that may appear in an address, such as street types(ST,AVE,BLVD) and directions(N,NW,S)

ArcMAP 9.x have (.cls, .pat) files can implement similar features

But I've not found ESRI offer above features on ArcMAP 10.6

Accoding to following link, at 2013.11, esri not support above features

I want to know, now, ESRI has provided above features or not?
If yes, where can I find it?
If not, how to implement above features?

Hi. The methodology referred to above is legacy and has been replaced with 10.x locators that no longer expose these abbreviations as configurable, nor does the new style locator require such configuration. Abbreviations such as Street > ST and Lane > LN are built into the new locator style logic. There is no longer any need to maintain your own list of standard abbreviations.

Hi Rodney,

Thanks for your reply!

You said no need to maintain own list of standard abbreviations, but if a customized locator style(if in this style abbreviations can be added) can be added so as to create  address locator in this newly-added locator style,

I saw this link: How To: Add a custom address locator style to the list of available styles

So my question is, can a customized locator style be added so as to make abbreviations configurable?

Thank you!

Hi Leo,

Yes, a lot of customization is possible, but can we return to a conversation about why this particular customization is necessary? Are there abbreviations in the standard addresses used by your customers that are not being recognized with an existing locator style?

Thanks, Rodney
